How much energy does self-regulating cable use?

underfloor-heating-benefits

Warmup self-regulating cable comes in varying heat outputs and varies heat output based on ambient temperature making running costs a bit complicated to calculate. In the below text we will assist you in calculating maximum running costs and give you an understanding of how ambient temperature impacts cable wattage output.

To determine the maximum running cost of a system:

  1. Multiply the length of the cable x the cable wattage per linear foot to get its maximum wattage draw.
  2. Divide the result by 1,000 and multiply by the cost of electricity per kWh

This will give you the maximum running cost per hour for the system. Operating costs for self-regulating systems will vary because heat output is determined by ambient temperature (see below graph). The above calculation has been done based on maximum heat output. To minimize heat output, and costs, Warmup recommends the use of a control to ensure that the cable is only activated when low temperatures and moisture are present.
