This is a blog post by Topps Tiles, Britain’s biggest tile & wood flooring specialist.

Here at Topps Tiles, we understand that whilst your kitchen or bathroom will last for many years to come, it’s still important to think about current trends which may influence the way you decorate or accessorise your home. We’ve rounded up our top home interior trends for 2015 to help you get some inspiration for your next project!

COLOUR

When it comes to colour trends, global colour authority Pantone have it covered. They’ve announced that their colour of 2015 is Marsala, a beautiful yet bold tone that’s now making its way into home interior trends. Our very own Minton Hollins range has a Raspberry Bevel Tile in a strikingly similar shade that’s perfect for adding a splash of colour in any room.

Other on-trend colours for 2015 include an eclectic mix of cool and soft tones with some deeper, warmer berry shades. There are soft neutral colours inspired by nature with a very minimalist feel, ideal for use around the home to enlarge spaces and reflect light.

NATURAL TEXTURE

Another top trend for 2015 is a return to the ‘natural’ look. Think Natural Stone, full of character and rustic feel with a contemporary twist. Natural Stone around the home is a timeless look that will last for many years with the right care and maintenance. Some can also be used with underfloor heating, perfect for keeping your feet warm in the winter.

Another way to incorporate the natural look in your home is to introduce some wood effect tiles. The knots and whirls found in these tiles replicate the look and feel of real wood flooring, whilst still being very durable and practical in most areas of the home.

The idea of bringing the outdoors inside can also be interpreted in décor and accessories – try patterned wallpaper or a mirror surrounded by distressed wood for a touch of natural texture.

GEOMETRICS

Geometric shapes are destined to be big in 2015 – think hexagonal mosaics, intricate shapes and eye-catching patterns. You’ll also see large hexagonal floor tiles gracing the insides of interior magazines; these are a fantastic way to bring modern shapes into your home on a more muted level.

Whilst previous seasons have seen a nod towards monochrome, this trend is now branching out to include multiple colours blending together with hints of black.

Traditionally, most tiles are laid in a linear pattern; however the herringbone trend is set to remain as the pattern of choice. Try laying your brick-effect tiles like this for an industrial yet very contemporary look in your home.

METALLICS

Past years have seen hints of gold and silver rise in popularity on both the catwalks and in home interior trends. 2015 however is set to be the year for soft copper and rose gold tones.

Bringing warmth to traditionally industrial shades, this theme is one that can be incorporated into many areas of the home using accessories or even tiles. Whether you decide to create a feature wall of copper-toned mosaics or introduce the colours in fabric or wallpaper, this trend is one that’s sure to stay around for some time to come.

Underfloor heating maximises comfort in any bathroom or kitchen. Tile and stone are ideal floor finishes with the system heating quickly and retaining heat well, making underfloor heating highly reactive and efficient.
